Is it worth learning the solos / style of Charlie Christian?
Is that style relevant to modern jazz? I saw that Wolf Marshall has books that he transcribes, and I was thinking of getting the Wes Montgomery book. I didn’t know if I should maybe go back a little earlier in jazz and learn the Charlie Christian stuff. I’m not really a swing fan, but I am a fan of Charlie Christian.
Charlie Christian is a god of jazz guitar. I have some records with the Goodman band. He was really a bop musician before that term was used.
