Any hair styling professionals out there who can advise me on a flat iron?
I have very thick very curly hair which is also very frizzy. I have finally found a product line that I love that works well with my hair (Control Freak by Bed Head) but my flat iron just isn’t cutting it. (I have a Remington T Studio) I live in an area that can be very humid in the summer and am an aspiring dog groomer who still cares what may hair looks like – so I also work in a very humid environment. I’m not wanting to spend much over $100, I have heard a lot of negative on the chi and a lot of positive on the sedu, What is the best flat iron for me?
sedu and hai are both really good quality brands which last a long time. chi is better, although one drawback is that you can’t take it with you when you travel, because the voltage is different, and an adapter plug wont work (trust me, i tried). and i have heard stories about chis breaking easily?
the best brand, in my opinion, is GHD. it will cost you around 100 pounds i think, which is really expensive i know, but believe me when i say it is 100% worth it. it makes your hair really smooth and gorgeous, and you can use it to curl your hair too. its really high quality, ive had mine for years now with no problems. you should be able to find it at most salons.
one last thing, BEWARE of fakes. there are a lot of fake GHD and chi flat irons on ebay and on the internet, usually selling for really cheap. DO NOT BUY THESE. i dont care if the seller says it is “authentic”, DO NOT BUY. this happened to me, i bought a limited edition chi on the internet, i even asked the seller “is this chi authentic” and she said yes. and it turned out to be fake. ive heard stories of these fake flat irons bursting into flames when a person is using them, fizzling out, and all sorts of funky nasty things. worst of all, it does irreversible damage to your hair – it becomes frizzy, dry, and less obedient. it takes years for your hair to go back to normal after using a fake iron. whichever brand you choose to buy, buy it yourself, in a store or a salon.
