When folks consider the Saint Paul Saints, they first think about baseball. Just recently that the Saints have opened a new endeavor located in Lakeville Mn named the Saints Sports Academy. Brought in as Head Instructor for the football program is AFL stand-out Kevin Brown. Brown has a long and famed football resume, finishing in the AFL2 Arena Cup Championship in 2004 with the Peoria Pirates. While a student at SDSU, Brown was an exceptional athlete earning National Player of the Week in 2k, his 1st season. In 2001 he was converted to a cornerback and recorded three interceptions. In 2002 he led the nation with 22 passes defended and earned the honors : Gazette All-American, Honorable Mention Return Specialist, First Team All-NCC Kick Returner / second Team cornerback and Daktronics First-Teamer.
As well as Brown, the football training staff includes second round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings Willie Howard. Howard is the Head Coach for the Semi-Pro South Metro Dragons football team, who use the Sports Academy as their off season training facility. Howard attended Stanford ( All-Pac 10) and played as a defensive tackle.
Ryan Hoag, aka Mr. Irelevant for being the Oakland Raiders last pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, is also a member of the Sports Academy football training instructors. Hoag went to Gustavus Adolphus ( All-MIAC 1st Team ) and spent time with professional clubs: the NY Giants, MN Vikings, WA Redskins, Edmonton Eskimos and Jacksonville Jaguars before playing with the NY Sentinels of the United Football League in 2009.
Rounding out the football instruction employees at the Academy is Joe Peters. Peters attended Concordia University (Fir|1}st Team All-Northern Sun, D2football.com 1st Team All-Midwest area ). He also played professionally for the Chicago Rush, Peoria Pirates and Green Bay Blizzards ( first Team All-AF2 ).
