What should I be when I leave school?
Should I work in the music industry, or become an interior designer like I’ve always wanted to be
I’m 15 years old, 16 and moving on to year 11 this year. So I guess my time to decide what I want to possibly do in the future has come, and ever since I was about 11 my mind has changed back and forth from working in the music industry, or in the art industry.
If I went to college to study interior design I would pick architecture and art and design as my a-levels and if I decided to do music, I would pick music of course, and vocal lessons, music theory and possibly I’d get classical training to be a jazz artist.
But I don’t know which one is more realistic =/
Personally, you shoould go into the interior design and architecture. It’s more realistic and if you love it just as equally, do it.
Music is good, and my cousin is very very very talented. He’s majoring and has gotten his masters degree in Jazz music for the trombone and was even offered a scolarship to the best music school in the country. But the only problem is, what are you going to do for a living? you can be a band teacher… you can play in restaurants. My uncle (my cousin’s dad) got a degree in music, and then couldn’t find a job, so he had to go back to college and get an accounting degree.
I’m not saying that you won’t find a job. But it isn’t the most reliable thing. Go with the architecture. however, it’s essentially up to you. weight the pros and cons. I feel that you’ll get more job opportunities with the aricecture.
