What books do you love? Do you like fiction fantasy books? Have you heard of cross-genre historical fiction fantasy books. Ever heard of it, does such a genre exist?
Lord Of The Rings although a fantasy book is all about reality. I think the best fiction fantasy books are the ones that do not just show us what is wrong with reality, but how we can get our reality right, by realizing that, in truth, there is nothing wrong with it in the first place, all we have to do is focus on the moment to see the paradise that surrounds us at all times.
Creator, by Michael Hills, is a book like this. Perfume by Patrick Suskind is another. These books are similar in the way that they begin, following the life of a truly gifted abomination.
There are a lot of similarities. In both stories the main characters have very special abilities, magical powers, and stories take place in a historical setting, and both are mixed with mystery, fantasy and murder, although there is more fantasy in Creator.
Both have deeper meanings, and are in some way spiritual. Both are reeling in hard reality in the framework of fantasy.
Perfume stops at a double symbolic meaning, where as Creator goes beyond to become a myth. Even at this level Creator is great fun to read.
Why is it a myth? It has many layers, all having potentially different meanings, all equal important or unimportant, depending on how you see it. It has a top layer, a liner story line, and many layers beneath that, all of which depends on the level of understanding the reader has to interpret them.
You could read Creator when you are young, and see a meaning in it. And then lets say ten years later you read it again, and you will probably see a completely different meaning in it, as you have gained experience, and your perspective has changed.
The bizarre thing is that the whole story ultimately revolves around one word, like the Bible, also being a myth, revolves around Love, yet Creator is a complex. There is a duality. It is a word powerful enough to destroy everything, but at the same time to take this word out of our vocabulary, out of our subconsciousness, would mean humanity’s salvation. I won’t give the word away. You’ll have to read the book.
I think Creator is so unique that it creates a category of its own. If I was to put Creator into a catagory, I would call it consciousness literature. In CL the genre, or cross genre, is unimportant. What is important is that through the writing, the reader is taken to another level of consciousness.
When this is set in your subconscious this becomes a powerful message as it is internalized. It is likely that your consciousness will be expanded when reading Creator. Go to best fantasy books, if you are looking or a great read.
