What You Need To Know About Bass Fishing

Sponsored By: Discount Gerber Knives

A popular type of fishing in the United States among people who like to fish is bass fishing. Largemouth bass are the type most anglers prefer, though there are other types that make for good sport, including smallmouth and white bass. If you haven’t done bass fishing before, or if you are planning a fishing trip for the near future, the following information might come in handy,

Anyone experienced in fishing will tell you that fish behavior is unpredictable and can vary depending on the time of year, the weather conditions or the time of day. Before you go fishing its a good idea to check the forecast first for that very reason. Even though not everyone wants to be out fishing on a rainy day, it does bring the baitfish that the bass feed on close to the surface, and this can really pay off. These smaller fish are feeding on surface insects, and this in turn brings the bass in search of the baitfish. However, bass can be harder to find on sunny days because they tend to stay hidden in their secluded hideaways. When a cold front approaches, the fish seem to start to feed instinctively, if you take advantage of it, you could catch a lot of bass.

If you’ve seen fishermen wearing sunglasses and hats, this is not a fashion statement, it’s done for a very practical reason. When you’re on the water all day, you can become sensitive to glare, and this can occur even on days that don’t seem that bright. Polarized sunglasses can help to prevent this from occurring. Wearing them also lets you get a better view of what is going on under the waters surface. The wraparound style or the style that has the side shields are the best polarized sunglasses to get. A hat with a long brim can also help you avoid the sun’s glare and give you an edge when looking into the water.

Color is a critical characteristic when choosing bass bait; some novice fishermen need to bear this in mind; even though other types are effective also. Fish are unable to see color as people do, you need to consider this when you buy your bait. Given that during the date you may experience a myriad of changes; you should have a lure to accommodate each one. Try to coordinate the lure with the climate and brightness of the day as is feasible. If it is shadowy or drab, use a lure that will give the same impression. On the other hand, if it’s bright and sunny out, use a lure with a bright color. Think about the food the fish you are fishing for are eating and try to duplicate this as much as possible. It is not easy to simplify things, however we have covered a fair amount of area on bass fishing; ultimately it all hinges on the weather and the location. Your biggest benefit is to know the fish you are seeking and where that fish can be found.
