I have a 1999 volkswagen cabrio. With the banjo style remote. How do I program a new remote.?
First, you will need two keys. Put one key in the ignition and turn the ignition to the “on” position (instrument cluster lights come on). Make sure the hood, trunk lid, and both doors are closed. Take the other key and stick in the driver’s door lock. Turn the key counter clockwise and hold it in this position until you hear three beeps. Release key but don’t remove it. Press the lock or the unlock button on the remote until you hear a beep. Once you hear the beep from the remote, turn the key in the door counter clockwise again until you hear three more beeps. The three beeps are the signal that you are entering/exiting program mode. The one beep from the remote lets you know that the remote has been programmed.
