A little bit nervous about my Grade 2 exam on the violin.?
Hey,
I havent been assigned a proper date for my grade 2 violin exam yet, but i have received the scales and arpeggios grade 2 book and I have got the grade 2 violin exam pieces. I have chosen my pieces and can play them quite well. Im doing good on my scales and arpeggios but there is one problem. I cant remember the name of the different notes. I always refer to them as : A1 or G3 : like that. Has anyone got a good way of learning them? I have a gut feeling that it will come up in the exam “/

When you play your scales, say the note names out loud until they are memorized. If you are on an A1, it’s a B.
It’s important to learn the notes because what happens when you become more advanced? Eventually you will have to play an F# higher on the A string rather than a first finger on the E string. You could use a 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th finger for that note, depending on what position you’re in.
